The Independent Guide to camping holidays in France.

We focus our guide to camping and mobile home holidays in France towards the areas where they are predominantly the main type of holiday; Normandy, Brittany, The Vendee, Charente Maritime, South West France, Limousin, Dordogne and the South of France including the French Riviera, Cote d'Azur, the Ardeche etc.

We believe that these are are possibly the best value for money breaks and most enjoyable holidays on the market, with the weather, the food, the overwhelming sense of freedom all combining to make France the number 1 camping holiday venue in Europe. We also believe that these holidays represent far better value for money than the equivalent holidays in the UK unless you are tent camping. In fact, why not pay a visit to visit Halfords.com for a wide range of tents?

Just a quickie - why do the French people mainly holiday in France? The answer is simple: they just don't need to travel out of their own country to find the climate, beach area, walking area, mountains or what have you which makes for good holidays; it's all there for them in France....lucky, lucky. Lots of them take camping holidays in their own country and weekend camping breaks as well.

We recognise that most, but not all, of our readers prefer to take self drive holidays, and so on most pages you will see that we have made an effort to give you directions from the major ports to the town or area to which you are going, and if you follow these directions you should have no need of other directions until you reach your immediate holiday area.

We have a section which includes sunburn treatment, holiday savings (how to make valuable savings on the total cost of your holiday), a page about driving laws and some more odds and sods such as info about climates in France, gastronomy in the various popular camping regions, and the differences between what you can expect when hiring a mobile home from French and British based companies. There is also a drivers checklist which is aimed at self drivers, just so you don't forget anything or run foul of any new driving regs.

If there are any points about camping holidays in France which you feel have not been covered here or in one of the site inner pages then please get in touch though our contact page and we will reply asap.
