Camping and camping holiday information in and around Beg-Meil on the Southern coast of Western Brittany

Beg-Meil is a fair old way from most of the main ferry ports apart from Roscoff and St Malo, as it is situated just a tad south of Quimper and near to the western end of Brittany. Probably the best ferries for this area other than Roscoff are St Malo, Caen and Cherbourg. Getting there is absolutely no problem because the French roads are excellent, relatively traffic free on the dual carriageways, and above all they are well sign posted. We show a link to a map of the area for you to get your bearings.

From Le Havre, Caen, Cherbourg head for Avranches then St Malo, heading down the N137. You will soon pick up signs for Vannes in Brittany, so follow that sign and avoid Rennes entirely. Further on you will eventually pick up signs for Quimperle and Quimper, then Concarneau. You should have local directions from there to your camping site supplied by your tour operator.

Beg-Meil is in southern Finisterre, a part of Brittany, and lies at the westernmost point of the Baie de la Foret opposite Concarneau, in fact this small town is within an easy drive of Benodet, Concarneau and Quimper. One of the best sandy beaches in Finistere stretches from Beg Meil to Mousterlin. Beg Meil is a pretty seaside village with restaurants, shops, cafes and children’s beach club in high season and One of the best sandy beaches in Finistere stretches from Beg Meil to Mousterlin.

The area boasts plenty of sites for taking your own tent camping equipment, pre-erected tent camping and of course mobile home holidays for those who like to have washing, showers and toilets nearer to hand.

Beg-Meil is an ideal place for holidays with young families as this area doesn't become quite so hot in high season as do some of the holiday areas further south such as the Vendee, Charentes etc
