Camping holidays near to les Conches, Longeville sur Mer, southern Vendee

Les Conches is locaetd between the lively resort of la Tranche sur Mer to the south and some other small resorts to the north such as St Vincent sur Jard, Jard sur Mer and Port-Bourgenay. Les Conches is one of those little places which you either stumble upon or are actively looking for; blink and you've missed it! The village itself is tiny and has a Tabac/cafe, a florist and not much else! Your main shopping needs to be done at the supermarket 6 km to the south on the outskirts of la Tranche sur Mer - just drive south and you see the supermarket on your right.

When you think of the beaches in the Vendee it always brings to mind golden sands and safe bathing, and the beach at les Conches is exactly that, plus the fact that it has a large car park as well because this area is off the beaten track so a vehicle is an absolute must.

Believe it or not but this little spot boasts one of the best surfing beaches around and all the campsites have tide charts which they happily give out for you to guage when you think it best to try out your surfing skills, or lack of them, in which case you can just body surf as that requires little effort.

Like most resorts on the western coast of France, les Conches is sheltered from the sea and beach by a range of protected sand dunes, and this area is fortunate to have the Foret de Longeville at the back of the dunes, so walks in there can be quite an adventure for wildlife spotters.
