Camping in the Loire & Loire Valley

A camping or mobile home holiday in the Loire Valley, one of the most scenic areas of France, is a great area in which to relax, go for walks or go cycling.

There is space for all here, and greenery too. There is countryside and there are rivers meandering through it, there are châteaux and there is an abundance of history in the towns and small villages dotted all around the Loire Valley.

Tours is a lovely old town which is bisected by the river Loire, a lively place with a cosmopolitan feel to it in which there is an "old quarter" with half-timbered houses and lots of olde worlde cobbled streets which all need to be explored, and of course, there is a superb top of the range modern shopping centre as well.

Château de Chenonceau is a most beautiful château which has long been renowned for its formal gardens and the long gallery, housed in the stunning bridge that spans the river Cher. You can hire a canoe here and take a trip under its arches. Château de Chambord is the largest and most extravagant of the châteaux in the whole of the Loire Valley. You can climb to the roof terrace for a spectacular view over the forest below, before enjoying a walk and picnic in the grounds.

We have several campsites available to book in the Loire region of France including sites near Saumur and Chambord.

Camping l'Etang de la Breche is 5 miles from the market town of Saumur and is set in spacious grounds.

As well as plenty of places to explore for the children, there's a swimming pool complex boasting 4 pools and surrounded by a sun terrace.

Camping Le Chateau des Marais in Chambord is set in woodland a few miles away from the most famous of the Loire Chateaux - the Chateau de Chambord. Set in the spacious grounds of an old manor house, this is an ideal choice for families with young children.

There is a water park with waterslides, a lazy river and sun terrace as well as a restaurant, takeaway and shop. A small indoor spa, sauna, hammam and jacuzzi has now been built on the parc which is free to use in May June and Sept, however, there is a small charge in high season. Note that some noise may be heard from the nearby road.

To book either or these campsites simply select France and Loire in the booking engine at the top of this page.

From Calais/Tunnel area it is 300 miles (about 6hrs) to Blois, Chambord and Pierrefitte and 350 miles to Tours.

Another option is to take a sailing to either Caen or Le Havre which will cut your journey by about 100 miles - and remember that you can also get night sailings to both Caen and Le Havre.

The journey from Roscoff to the Loire sites is approx 250 miles, while it is a 300 mile trip from Roscoff.
