Camping in La Palmyre at Bonne Anse Plage, Charente-Maritime

Camping Bonne Anse Plage is a large, high-quality park set in the undulating pine-forest of La Coubre and close to the superb sandy beaches of La Palmyre.

The campsite is only 600 metres from a lovely beach and nearby is Palmyre Zoo, one of the best in France. See the trademark pink flamingos and an amazing sea lion show. The perfect place to visit with your family while camping in the Royan area.

How to get there: There is an overnight ferry to Caen which would leave you 333 miles to drive the next day, or you can use St Malo which is 253 away, Roscoff at 337, or Cherbourg at about 344 miles from La Palmyre, so all in all there are loads of options for you.

For drivers from Caen or St Malo, once you arrive in Rennes follow the signs on the ring road for Nantes and Bordeaux which will take you onto the N137 south to meet with the Nantes périphérique 4 km north of the city.

Follow signs for Bordeaux here and don't miss or you have to drive through Nantes city centre. Exit the périphérique at junction 48 and head south on the D937 to La Rochelle, Rochefort and Royan - all of which are well signposted.
