Glamping France information page
France trails behind the UK in offering Glamping and Glamping holidays, and having said that, most of the sites which do offer glamping holidays over there are owned and operated by Brits. Nice to know that we can beat somebody at something at last!
Glamping, as I'm sure you are aware, stands for glamorous luxury camping and that means camping in Yurts. Yurts, as I'm also sure you are aware, are large circular supersonic tents which are insulated with a felt material covering a wooden frame. All the materials are supposed to be gathered from locally sourced materials, and even the woodburner which you get with your Yurt is hailed as being Eco friendly because apparently the logs/wood burnt in this thingy cause no more damage to the environment than if you left it to rot away. Hmm.That of course depends on which way the wind blows when the occupants of the next door Yurt spark their log burner up.
Seriously though, Yurts are the bees knees in luxury camping, and they have everything in them but a shower and toilet, but having said that, we know of some which have cabins next door to the yurts containing those facilities. In any event you will find that as is usual in France there will be a shining bright shower/washin/toilet block very close to where the Yurts are situated - there has to be by law.
Yurts have beds too, did you know that? Proper beds, but you would be wise to check whether the owners supply duvets/sheets/bedding of any sort before you book your holiday.
Having camped in a Yurt once last year I can certainly recommend them to anyone who thinks that camping is too basic a holiday for them. This is not really camping in the sense that some of us know but it is seriously luxurious and that is why it is called Glamping, of course.
