Touring Holidays – Great for the Family.

These days, holidays seem to consist of theme parks, kids burying themselves in hand-held games or mobile phone conversation, and parents wishing they could just be a family. The answer might be simpler than you think – and not nearly as expensive.

Touring holidays, where you can either hire a caravan or sleep in tents, are a great way to spend time together as a family, and rediscover what it's like to connect with those you're closest to - and you don't need to spend a small fortune.

Camp sites can be found all over the country, and for a small charge you can pitch a tent or park a caravan at a powered site and spend as long or as little as you want, relaxing and simply talking. You don't need to fear running out of supplies or clean clothes; most caravan parks these days offer convenience stores and laundrettes, full amenities, and even baths and changing facilities for the babies.

Many parks even offer on site recreational facilities, such as rock climbing or movie screenings. Entertainment is offered for both the kids and their families (from breakfast until early evening), or the adults (of an evening). And with the variety of sites you can hire, you can rest assured your every need will be catered for.

Pets are permitted at many parks, and for those travelling in the more exclusive caravans, disposal points are made available for stored waste. Those with special needs are catered for and hair dryers are provided for the hair-proud.

The best thing about caravan holidays is that you can stop whenever you like, and not have to unload bags to carry into a hotel. You pull up at a pitch, hook up to the water and electricity, and be ready to camp in an instant. The pitches come complete with powerand/or water (or without, if you desire), drainage, and even space for an awning, if required.

Think of the education your children will gain, without even knowing it, while tripping around. Many parks offer kids' clubs where the children are encouraged to partake in swimming, art, craft or sports, cook, put on shows, meet new people
and learn about the environment around them. They'll be playing in the fresh air and not even miss their PS2.

And to top it all off, you'll be spending time as a family. Nothing spells quality time more than a road trip and sleeping side by side in a tent or Motorhome. Unlike hotels where the kids are normally segregated in a separate room from mum and dad,you can't avoid each other in a caravan and it's either get along or have a lousy time.

A holiday is a long time to sulk!
