Camping near Paimpol, Northern Brittany
Paimpol lies on the north Brittany coast roughly mid way between the ports of St Malo and Roscoff, but is easily reached from Caen, Cherbourg or Le Havre - they just entail a longer drive, that's all. Head for St Briuec and just follow your nose until you reach the smaller town of Paimpol.
One of the main things which makes this small place important is because of the nearby oyster beds, and as we all know, oysters from Brittany are prized beyond belief! Oysters are bred here and exported all over the world.
The town has a couple of museums; the Musée de la Mer, open April to September, and which shows the history of the area, and also the Musée du Costume which exhibits costumes belonging to the region's traditions and its history as well as many other interesting related objects.
Other than museums in Paimpol the nearby abbey of Beauport is another spot recommended for tourists not to miss. It was built during the XIII century and still has most of its original structural and architectural elements in great condition. And not only that.....but Paimpol offers boat trips for tourists. All in all it seems like a nice little base for your camping holidays
