A little about Port Bourgenay, near to Talmont Saint Hilaire in the south Vendee region, how to get there and the camping facilities available in the area.

An idyllic little place for camping holidays, Port Bourgenay lies a few km south of les Sables d'Olonne on the Atlantic coast of the southern Vendee. It is about 5km from Talmont-St-Hilaire and just a stone's throw away from Jard sur Mer, another favourite haunt of the British camping fraternity.

This is a pretty good place for watersports, as is much of the western coast of France, and Port Bourgenay also has a stunning beach for sunbathing and whatever else you fancy doing on a beach.

The river Payre is nearby just waiting to be explored and followed into the nearby larger town of Talmont St Hilaire when you want to do some more serious shopping.

Things to do in the area, if you are bored with watersports and the beach, include a visit to les Sables just a few km to the north. There is an amazing outdoor zoo at les Sables, and this alone is well worth the trip.

Getting to Port Bourgenay is a doddle, and we can say that if you follow the directions below we will be able to take you from your ferry port to Port B without the need for you to consult a map.

From Calais take the A16 to Abbeyville and on to Rouen. From Dieppe you also take the autoroute to Rouen, and from there both follow signs for Alencon, le Mans, Angers, Cholet, la Roche sur Yon and finally les Sables d'Olonne where you will pick up signs for Port Bourgenay before entering the city.

From le Havre, Deauville and Caen we suggest that you make your way down to Falaise and Argentan on th N158, and then le Mans etc as above.

From St Malo follow signs for Rennes and Nantes where you pick up the Nantes peripherique or ring road. Follow signs for Bordeaux and exit the peripherique at junction 48, again following signs for Bordeaux and la Roche sur Yon. From la Roche follow signs for les Sables and then your camping destination, Port Bourgenay.
